MS teams finish season stong

The 8th grade football team put a final exclamation mark on an outstanding season by defeating Walnut Creek 30-16 last night. Damian Gaines opened the scoring with a 20 yard run, as Alec Bageris connected with a pass to Nathan Lys for the conversion. Mitchell Lys proved to be opportunistic by recovering a fumble in Creek’s endzone for another touchdown. This time, Bageris would pass to Dominique Lewis for the conversion. Bageris and Gaines teamed up again on a 20 yard pass, to add another six points for the Wildcats. Bageris once more showed his passing touch on the conversion to Lewis. Ryan Wexler completed the scoring on a 55 yard run to put the score at 30-0. In the second half, everyone saw lots of playing time, making this a complete team victory. The Cats ended the season at 5-1, and league co-champs.

The JV green and white inner squad scrimmage ended with a 12 to 12 tie.  Coach Sutherland and coach Hansor want to thank the 7 grade team for a great season.

MS teams sweep

Offense, defense, and special teams; all units were at peak efficiency Wednesday night, as the Varsity 8th grade football team defeated Hillside 24-0. The Wildcats opened the game by marching 60 yards down the field, scoring on a one yard run by Yeajoon Lee, and a two point conversion by Damien Gaines. The Cats would again score just before the half with a Gaines 5 yard run for a touchdown, and a quarterback sneak by Alec Bageris for the two pointer. Early in the second half, Mitchell Lys scooped up a blocked punt to scamper 15 yards into the endzone for another score. A pass from Bageris to Gaines for the conversion, ended the scoring. On defense, Andy Lee, Ben Hong, Brendan Bloom, Austin Morton, Kendan Hill, and Nathan Lys completely shut down the Hillside offense.

Novi JV football improved their record to 4-1, by defeating Northville Hillside by the score of 14-8.  Chase Sparling started off the scoring with and 47 yard touchdown, and Michael Jecmen added the 2 point conversion for and 8 to nothing lead.   Sparling finish of the scoring with another 45 yard touchdown to finish off the scoring.  The defense again held Hillside to one touchdown and was led by Jason MO and Nicklas Siriani leading the team in tackles. 

MS Teams split at home.

The Varsity 8th grade football team improved their record to 3-0 with a 16-12 victory over previously unbeaten Waterford Mason. Alec Bageris opened the scoring on a one yard quarterback sneak for a touchdown, and also completed a two point conversion pass to Nathan Lys. Damian Gaines added to the scoring with a touchdown from three yards out, while Bageris ran in the two point conversion. With the Wildcats up by four points, and just under two minutes left in the game, Danique Lewis came up with a fantastic interception to seal the win. Damian Gaines, Sean Carrell, Brendan Bloom, Yeajoon Lee, and Brad Utterbeck, were outstanding on defense.

The JV football suffered its first loss of the year to Mason MS by the score of 14-6, in a defensive struggle.  Led by Paulo Burgess and Hoah Grier, and Chase Sparling leading the team in tackles.  The wildcats only score came from Kyle Klosterman 55 yard touchdown run in the 3rd quarter to bring the score 8 to 6.  Mason score again in the 4th quarter and the wildcat defense held strong stopping the extra point.  The offense took the ball late in the 4th quart drove the ball to Mason’s 40 yard line and turned the ball over on downs to end the game.

MS Teams split vs Giesler

The JV football team improved their record to 3-1 with a 6-0 defeat of Giesler MS.  The wildcat defense was led by Jason Mo, and Joe Hwang leading the team in tackles.   The only score of the game came late with Chase Sparling 30 yard run, with 4 minutes left Stephen Davis score on a 23 yard touchdown.  Next game is Wednesday at Hillside MS. 

In a clash of two unbeaten teams, the Novi Varsity Middle School football squad came up short in a 22-8 hard fought defeat last night against Giesler MS. Damien Gaines returned a kick 83 yards, behind a perfect block by Austin Morton, to get the Wildcat’s only touchdown. Danique Lewis scored the two point conversion. The defense played well all game, keeping the score 14-8 until the final minute of the game. Yeajoon Lee, Brendan Bloom, Gaines, Lewis, and Morton, accounted for the majority of the tackles.

MS Teams victorious in season opener

The 8th grade Varsity football team opened the season with a 20-0 victory over Walled Lake Banks. Danique Lewis opened the scoring with a 46 yard touchdown run, and Yeajoon Lee added to the scoring with touchdowns from three yards and 18 yards out. Alec Bageris completed the scoring on a two point conversion pass to Lewis. Damian Gaines, Brendan Bloom, Austin Morton, and Nick Pytel, had outstanding games on defense.

The 7th grade team was also victorious in their season opener.

Both teams host Waterford Pierce next Wednesday.
