| Freshmen Tie Mustangs, 6-6 |

Cathy Schramm October 11, 2009 Novi High School’s freshman football team took on the Northville Mustangs on October 8th at Northville. It was an evenly matched game with both sides playing tough defense during the first half. Novi moved the ball on several drives with key runs by Michael Smith, Grant Wheeler and Tre Cadwell, but the Wildcats were unable to score in the first two quarters. The Wildcats played tough defense, stopping the Mustangs on their first four drives. Leading Novi with key tackles were Matt Forche, Robbie Deighton, Gentry Oden. After a Novi turnover Northville scored the lone touchdown in the first half, punching the ball in on the ground. After missing the extra point the teams went into the half with the score, Northville 6, Novi 0. In the third quarter the Novi’s offense got off to a good start moving the ball on the ground, the drive ended with a Michael Smith 3 yard touchdown run. The PAT was blocked leaving the score tied at 6. From there on out it was a defensive struggle with neither team able to move the ball successfully. Novi’s Ricki Nagomi returned a punt 50 yards for a touchdown only to have it called back due to a penalty. The final score ended in a tie at 6. Novi’s next game is at home on October 15. |
