High...Attended the University of Toledo and fi nished his 3-year career with school career records for average (.414), hits (238), doubles (42), RBI (147) and total bases (370)...hit .448 his junior season, the nation's 2nd-highest average... earned 1st-Team All-America honors from Baseball America in 2003.

2006 Career Highlights:

Made his big league debut for Kansas City, hitting .154 (2-13) in 5 games...Began the season at Wichita (AA)...hit .306 for the Wranglers...Was named to the Texas League All-Star team...led the league in games played while also finishing 2nd in at bats and hits, 4th in runs, tied for 4th in triples, 5th in total bases (257), 6th in RBI and tied for 8th in doubles...Had his contract purchased by the Royals on Sept. 20...made his Major League debut as a defensive replacement in left field on Sept. 23 vs. Detroit...went 0-for-2 with a strikeout...Recorded his 1st Major League hit off the Twins' Brad Radke on Sept. 28... ended up 2-for-4 in the game, scoring his 1st Major League run...started in right field...Hit .350 (35-100) with 19 runs scored for the Grand Canyon Rafters in the Arizona Fall League and was named to its All-Prospects Team...Rated as the 7th-best prospect in the Royals system by Baseball America entering the 2007 season...also named the Best Defensive Outfielder.
