Feb. 29, 2008 - (PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – Senior Trent Sisson (Novi, Mich.) of the Carnegie Mellon University football team has been awarded a NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship.  The scholarship is awarded to student-athletes who participated in fall sports. Sisson will receive a one-time, nonrenewable grant of $7,500.

The scholarships are awarded to student-athletes who excel academically and athletically and who are in their final year of intercollegiate athletics competition. The Association awards up to 174 postgraduate scholarships annually, 87 for men and 87 for women.

Sisson, a business major with a 3.93 GPA, is a two year starter at outside linebacker for the Tartans and was named ESPN the Magazine CoSIDA second team Academic All-American junior year.  He is a three-time All-University Athletic Association (UAA) All-Academic member and a two-time All-UAA selection.  Sisson finished the 2007 campaign fourth on the team with 58 tackles, 25 solo and was named First Team CoSIDA Academic All-District.

The NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship was created in 1964 to promote and encourage postgraduate education by rewarding the Association's most accomplished student-athletes through their participation in NCAA championship and/or emerging sports.
